Comic book author, scenographer and illustrator, Dimitri Piot<\/strong> remains deeply attached to the world of comics, even though his artistic path has taken him through various other creative fields: museum exhibitions, editorial projects, international residencies\u2026 His visual universe is strongly influenced by Ukiyo-e<\/strong> aesthetics. He briefly entered the gaming world with Time Masters<\/em> (Mushroom Games), for which he designed the visual identity. In 2014<\/strong>, he created the very first BGF poster<\/strong>, during a period full of personal and professional discoveries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How did you approach creating this poster?
Was there an idea, mood or message you wanted to convey?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Looking back, I realise I designed the second poster<\/strong> of a festival that\u2019s now been running for over ten years \u2014 and I\u2019m genuinely happy about that.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the time, my only goal was to do something simple and effective<\/strong>. I wanted to play with the iconography of Brussels<\/strong> and the world of games<\/strong>, using straightforward visual codes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Those choices might seem too basic<\/strong> for seasoned gamers, but a poster\u2019s mission is to deliver a clear and direct message<\/strong> \u2014 instantly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There was no hidden message<\/strong> or deeper reading \u2014 it was a grounded, accessible approach<\/strong>, fully intentional.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

What does this poster represent to you?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

It brings back memories of a time full of new experiences<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was the year my second son was born<\/strong>, the release of Time Masters<\/em>, and my first steps into the board game world<\/strong> \u2014 as an artist, an author, and part of the public.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I was also working back then with Philippe Capart<\/strong> and S\u00e9raphine Graphics<\/strong> on what would become Blow Book<\/strong>. In 2014, the project didn\u2019t have a name yet, but we were already shaping its many possible futures\u2026 another entirely new creative field for me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When I look at this poster now, I think about those precious moments<\/strong>, that sense of innocence and spontaneity<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you had to describe your poster in three words, which would you choose \u2013 and why?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Oh wow\u2026 I\u2019d rather leave that up to the public.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I don\u2019t like to impose an interpretation on viewers.

What memory stands out from illustrating for the BGF?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

A really positive one.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The first edition took place on Rue Royale<\/strong>, and it was my first time attending a board game festival<\/strong> \u2014 everything about it was new to me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I was struck by the enthusiasm and passion<\/strong> of both the organisers and the attendees. I gave a few interviews, joined a conference\u2026 The atmosphere was full of energy<\/strong>, and highly contagious.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Looking back, I feel truly honoured<\/strong> to have created this BGF poster<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
